Okay, Let's get started...
Be glad that you live on Earth, because you would NOT want to live on Venus. (If you're all like, "Eh, what's Earth?" then visit our Earth and Moon page.) Here it is...
Dun dun DUUUUUUN! Here are some facts about this red-hot planet...
What's the temperature like?
If you thought that Mercury was the hottest planet in the Solar System because it's closest to the sun, then you thought wrong!
The prize (as you might of guessed by now) goes to Venus! The temperature is a scorching 462 degrees Celsius on average - thirty-five degrees more than Mercury's measly 427 degrees! But why? Well, Venus' atmosphere is mostly made up of carbon dioxide - 96.5% in fact. And, as you might know, carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, so it absorbs lots of heat, creating the boiling Venus we know and love. Or know and hate, depending on your eye for Astronomy.
Unlike Earth, which is tilted on its axis, Venus is not tilted, so it has no seasons, causing it to have a fairly consistent temperature.

Slow spin - really slow spin
A year on Venus is about 225 Earth days, less days than an Earth year. What's as Venus day, though? Prepare to be shocked...
Did you know...?
A day on Venus is 243 Earth days. So that means it's quite a slow spinning planet but, if you look at them both, you will realize...
...that a year on Venus is shorter than a day on Venus!
Yep, that's how slow Venus is.
What's it like on Venus?
No water is on Venus. Well, a tiny bit, 0.001% of Earth's water. So it's not surprising that no life on this planet has been found. Actually, there are clouds of sulfuric acid, which spew acid from time to time, but the acid evaporates 25km before it can the ground. Aww!
But if this sounds rubbish to you, then think of this: Venus has about 1600 major volcanoes, and countless more mini ones! We don't know yet if any are active, but there are lots of supporting proof that some are active! Hooray!

Earth and Venus - Brothers and sisters!
Some people refer to Venus as a 'sister' planet to Earth due to their similar size, gravity, and mass. For example, Venus' gravity is about 90% of that on Earth.
